Terms and Conditions English

Terms and Conditions

13 Bees is the home of Amanda and Kevin Baughen, along with several cats and tortoises, and we welcome respectful guests.  These terms and conditions set our mutual responsibilities and obligations throughout the booking process and your stay.

BOOKING CONDITIONS

Booking
All beekeeping experiences must be paid for at the time of booking via secure online Paypal service which enables direct transfers or credit/debit card payments.  Whilst currencies are listed in GBP, guests can pay in Euros if they wish and exchange rates will be agreed at prevailing market rates.  Guests can also pay elements in cash (maximum 1000€ for French nationals or 3000€ for others) if you prefer but the proportions must be agreed at the time of booking with the 13 Bees team via email.

Chambres d'Hôtes rooms must be paid for in full before or on the day of departure.  We accept cash (see above terms), French cheques, Paypal transfers, bank transfers or online credit/debit card payment via Paypal.  Internet access can be provided for guests to use these services if they wish.

Any dietary requirements must be notified by email at the time of booking.  If guests take advantage of vacancies on the same day, we will do our best to accommodate dietary requirements but cannot guarantee compliance.

Cancellation
By making your booking, our agreement is a legal contract and you agree to our terms and conditions.

We will only cancel your booking if your accommodation becomes unavailable for reasons beyond our control and we will make best endeavours to find you alternative accommodation.  If this is unacceptable to you, we will refund all monies paid by you.  Our liability does not extend beyond this refund.

If you need to cancel for any reason, we will be happy to issue a voucher so that you can re-book at a more convenient time.  We strongly recommend that you have good travel insurance to cover you in the event of cancellation or disruption. Alternatively, if you cancel within 7 days of your arrival date we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of 50% of the booking value as per industry standard.  If you don't show up at all, we reserve the right to charge 100% of the booking.

We reserve the right to terminate your stay immediately, without being liable for any refund or compensation, if you engage in unacceptable behaviour that causes a disturbance or nuisance to the 13 Bees team and/or other guests.

Prices
The price includes all aspects set out on the Chambres d'Hôtes and Beekeeping sections of our website, including local taxes where applicable.

No Smoking
In accordance with French law, 13 Bees is a completely non-smoking property and each room is fitted with smoke detectors.  In the event of an alarm being set off by smokers or damage being caused by smoking, the guest(s) concerned will be financially liable for all resultant damages or fees incurred (eg: repairs to the property or if there is a charge for a fire service false alarm call).

Damages and Breakages

Please take care when staying in our home. You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages which you cause to the accommodation or its contents. All we ask is that you report any incidents when they occur. We do not normally charge for minor breakages, but we may charge you for repair or making good if the damage or breakage is significant and/or intentional.

Liability
We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.

Other than for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or misrepresentation, our total liability to you is limited to the price of the booking and to the fullest extent permitted by law all warranties are excluded and in no circumstances will we be responsible for any indirect or special damages.

We will not be liable for failure to provide advertised accommodation, resources or facilities if caused by any factor beyond our reasonable control or act of nature.

Privacy Policy
Any data collected during the course of this booking will be stored on our computer(s).  With your permission we may from time to time contact you about promotions and offers.  We will not share your details with any third party.  Our full privacy policy complies with 2018 rulings and is available on request.
GENERAL CONDITIONS

Accommodation

Check-in to rooms can be from 14:00 and check-out must be by 12:00.  If you are going to arrive after 19:00, you must let us know by phone, text message or email so that we can make arrangements to ensure you can arrive happily and safely.

We ask guests not to eat take-away meals in their rooms, there are plenty of outside seating areas at 13 Bees.

Whilst our cats do not enter any of the guest bedrooms, we cannot guarantee a totally allergen free environment and ask guests to manage their own allergies or health conditions accordingly.  We accept no liability for related, adverse reactions and cannot provide any medication or treatments (we will help guests at the local pharmacies).  Because 13 Bees is also our animals' home, we cannot accept any pets on site.

WiFi
All guests have access to free WiFi but we live in rural France and speeds are not fibre-optic levels just yet.  Consequently we kindly ask guests to adhere to a reasonable usage policy in order to ensure all guests can enjoy the service:
•    No streaming of music, TV or movies
•    No access to prohibited or illegal websites
•    Please switch off your WiFi connectivity when not using it
•    No more than one device connected per guest at a time

Beekeeping Experiences
Bees are wild animals and as much as we love them, they can be unpredictable just like people.  Therefore we cannot guarantee that guests won't get stung and make no warranties against or take responsibility for personal reactions to stings from the bees or interactions with other wildlife whilst in the parkland garden.

Similarly, we can't control the weather and whilst every effort is made to ensure the beekeeping experiences continue if the weather is inclement, we cannot refund any payments due to adverse weather conditions altering the content of the experiences.

All equipment used by guests will be provided in a clean and serviceable state and is fit for purpose.  Guests will be liable for any material damage caused directly through their negligence or activities beyond the instructions given by the session leaders during the experience.

While every effort will be made to deliver the advertised experiences, we reserve the right to change the contents of the beekeeping courses without incurring any financial or other liability to guests.  If any material changes are likely, we will provide as much notice as possible and communicate directly with the guests concerned, within the 'Cancellation' terms above.

Acceptance of Children
We want everyone to relax and enjoy their stay in our home, however, 13 Bees is a 1940's house with many original art deco features.  That means a good amount of wrought iron, marble and huge windows which all look great but are impossible to make child-friendly by today's standards.

We welcome children of ages 12 years and above but do not offer 'family rooms', specific facilities for your small people, fold-up beds, cots or safety rails.  Consequently, your young people will stay in one of our double rooms at full rates. We are of course happy to discuss reduced rates for evening meals if required.

Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss suitability.

Respecting privacy
Please respect the privacy of the owners and other guests at all times.  This means, for example:

•    Keeping quiet in bedroom areas late at night and early in the morning before breakfast
•    Switching lights off if you are the last people home and when you leave your rooms
•    Staying in the communal areas of the house and avoiding the owners' private rooms
•    Not playing music in bedrooms at night - and not playing loud music at all!

The Gardens
Guests are welcome and encouraged to explore and enjoy the 3-acre parkland garden but be advised our land is on a river bank and consequently, the terrain may not be suitable for guests with physical injuries or mobility problems.  If in doubt, please get in touch before booking to clarify.

Guests must also stay away from the apiaries (marked with signs) unless accompanied by one of the 13 Bees team.
